Transformational leadership “focus on followers and motivate them to higher levels of performance and help followers develop their own leadership potential”, (Riggio, 2009). They “define reality”, where they inform their subordinates what is really going on and so “they can understand why a leader is doing what they are doing”, (Benson, 2015). They intelligibly form their vision of what they want to achieve and share this with the subordinates. A transformational leader also “create alignment”, (Benson, 2015). A team needs to go in the same direction to be successful and the leader needs to outline the direction they want to go so everybody will be in sync.
