Gender Equality and Development Pt. 2

Reading: Read the assignment material for
the week. This week, the reading assignment is: The World Bank, Part III
Intro & Chapters 7 – 9.

Assignment: Provide an approximate 1200-word
overview and explanation of the important concepts in the readings. Assume that
you are writing for an uninformed reader that knows nothing about the topic and
has not read what you read. Provide an introduction that gives the background
of the resource you’re reviewing, so the reader will understand what they’re
reading and why. Consider the following topics for inclusion in this week’s
discussion:

– How are policies
developed, chosen, and made into agenda?

– What are some of the most
important policies that could be developed and implemented to improve gender
equality?

– Discuss the difference
between formal and informal (social) networks and how each might be best
utilized.

– Summarize what needs to
be done and how to do it.

And a mandatory question:

– Taking all of the
readings together, has the case been made for special accommodation in disaster
circumstances because of race and gender issues? Why or why not?
