I characterize an ethically effective culture as one that strives to do the right thing. This demands effective communication from all employees. Employees must be able to communicate when something is wrong to supervisors, and supervisors must be able to do the same thing with subordinates. Communication is important to an ethical culture, and so are the actions resulting from that communication.
Ethically effective corporations must act accordingly. When communication is good, ethical and non-ethical things will be discussed. An ethical corporation will create a culture that supports an ethical environment. This is done by identifying un-ethical actions and stopping them, just as much as by taking ethical actions.
